"Gangster Squad" to Reshoot Scenes in L.A.'s Chinatown This Month

As previously reported, important scenes from the upcoming Ryan GoslingSean Penn-starring film, Gangster Squad, will be re-filmed following the Colorado theater shootings that took place during a midnight premiere screening of The Dark Knight Rises last month. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the scene that took place in a movie theater involving the main characters turning machine guns on a terrified audience has been scrapped in favor of a new scene taking place in Los Angeles' Chinatown, and reshoots are scheduled to begin on August 20th in the neighborhood.

All of the principle cast - that is, Gosling, Josh BrolinAnthony Mackie, Robert Patrick,Troy Garity and Michael Pena - will return for the filming.

The new release date for Gangster Squad has been set for January 11, 2013.
