Former Marvel producer Avi Arad took the stage with Metal Gear Solid mastermind Hideo Kojima at Metal Gear Anniversary event in Tokyo this week to once again announce that a Metal Gear Solid movie is in the works.

The MGS film was originally announced in 2007, but that version never got off the ground. But Sony and Konami are likely hoping that won't happen again now that Arad, whose producing credits include films in the Spider-Man, Iron Man, Blade, and X-Men series, is on board.

But Arad's also been involved with duds like Daredevil, Hulk and Elektra, so that could go either way.

Kojima will be an executive producer on the movie, so there's a chance it could live up to fans' standards for the series. Then again, if he gets his way the film will probably be nine hours long. If you take all the cut scenes from every Metal Gear Solid game you'll probably get 30 movies. Wonder why they're not just doing that? Doubtless people would buy it.

Do you think Metal Gear Solid is ripe for a movie adaptation? Why or why not? Tell us in the comments or on Twitter.
