Despite the news that Jim Carrey had abruptly dropped out of the sequel to Dumb and Dumber a few weeks ago, Crave Online recently caught up with Jeff Daniels, who still believes that the movie will eventually see the light of day.
“Jim wants to do it. I want to do it. The Farrellys want to do it. They want to rewrite the script a little bit and they aren’t trying to jam it in before I have to go back and do Newsroom in November." He continued, "So they’re going, ‘Why don’t we just do it right? Let’s get everybody organized to go next May or June.’ If everything works out on the business side, that’s what we’ll do but I think there’s more hope than ever.”
If Carrey, Daniels, and the Farrellys still want to do it, then this project will eventually happen. Momentary bits of frustration are the norm in Hollywood, and we think that Carrey would easily rejoin the film if the proper amount of care is put into it. And with how excited Daniels sounds about everything, maybe they really can recapture the brain-dead magic of the original.
