Your McDonald's experience is about to get a lot more digital. Paypal, the online payment service owned by eBay, has begun testing its mobile payment service in McDonald's restaurants in France, Reuters is reporting.

The test allows customers to order food using a McDonald's mobile app and paying for the items using their PayPal account. Customers who do so are placed in a separate line.

If this test proves successful it would be a major win for PayPal which is currently battling against the other major mobile payments company, Square. Founded by Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey, Square has already made power moves by partnering with Starbucks.

"McDonald's would certainly be a whale," said Gil Luria, an analyst at Wedbush Securities. "If McDonald's customers can stand in line and order on a mobile app and pay with PayPal that is a huge extension of PayPal's reach."
