Apple's New EarPods Get the iFixIt Teardown Treatment

Peep what's inside of Apple's newest headphones.

One of the unsung heroes of Apple's September 12 press conference was the unveiling of a new and improved version of its ubiquitous headphones. Called the EarPods, the new in-ear headphones are said to fit more comfortably in the ear and sound demonstrably better than the old white earbuds.

Apple said it spent three years working on the EarPods. So what exactly did do in those 1095 days? The folks at iFixit, the place to go to find out how to get inside your favorite gadget, decided to crack open a pair and take a look. What did they find? Better internal materials, for one.
