According to Stephen King’s official website, the release date for the author’s highly-anticipated sequel novel to The Shining will hit shelves on September 24, 2013. Titled Dr. Sleep, the novel will focus on the later life of Danny Torrance, who was only a young kid in the original. Check out the official plot synopsis for the book below:

On highways across America, a tribe of people called The True Knot travel in search of sustenance. They look harmless—mostly old, lots of polyester, and married to their RVs. But as Dan Torrance knows, and tween Abra Stone learns, The True Knot are quasi-immortal, living off the “steam” that children with the “shining” produce when they are slowly tortured to death.

There have also been recent rumblings that Warner Brothers wants to put out a movie sequel to The Shining, but it hasn’t been confirmed if that potential project will be based on Dr. Sleep or if it will be an original story.
