A rumor began circulating recently that Dark Souls mastermind Hidetaka Miyazaki had plans to add an "easy mode" to Dark Souls, since the game's considerable challenge was supposedly turning some players away. Now it turns out that rumor was the result of a mistranslation, according to Dark Souls publisher Namco Bandai, and there are no plans to make the game any easier.

In the original translation, Miyazaki was quoted as saying, "it is true that Dark Souls is rather difficult and a number of people may hesitate to play. This fact is really sad to me and I am thinking about whether I should prepare another difficulty that everyone can complete or carefully send all gamers the messages behind our difficult games."

What Miyazaki actually said, though, according to Namco Bandai: "This fact is really sad to me and I am thinking about how to make everyone complete the game while maintaining the current difficulty and carefully send all gamers the messages behind it."

So, that's that. In other words: suck it up, noobz. Do you think Dark Souls should be easier, or that an easy mode should be added like what Capcom did for Dragon's Dogma? Or is the challenge part of Dark Souls' beauty?
