Mark Millar Reveals Some Interesting Details About The Next "X-Men" Movie

Robots and superheroes? We're in.

None

In an attempt to compete with Marvel Studios movies like Thor and The Avengers, 20th Century Fox recently hired comic book writer Mark Millar to be a creative consultant on the Marvel properties that the studio will be putting in front of the camera over the next few years. His first big project will be the sequel to X-Men: First Class, titled X-Men: Days of Future Past, which will again be directed by Matthew Vaughn.

Comic book fans should already be well aware of that title, as it is the name of one of the most popular X-Men comics of all time. And recently, Millar sat down with SFX to talk about what will be in the film.

"Vaughn is going for a big sci-fi style thing with X-Men: Days of Future Past," Millar said. "It's X-Men meets The Terminator. You've got robots, you've got time travel, you've got superheroes - it's got everything in one film."

He then confirmed that a film of this scope will need a much bigger budget than First Class: "Cost-wise it's going to go up, and ambitious-wise it's gone up. But Vaughn can handle it. Vaughn made Kick-Ass for $28 million."

The robots that Millar is referring to could mean that we might finally be seeing the Sentinels on screen for the first time after over a decade of waiting. We never thought we would actually be endorsing yet another X-Men movie, but with Millar and Vaughn on board, and such great source material to adapt, Days of Future Past might be the most interesting superhero movie of the year when it gets released on July 18, 2014.
