According to Deadline, Nestor Carbonell and Mike Vogel have joined the cast of A&E’s Psycho prequel series, titled Bates Motel. Carbonell will play Sheriff Royce Romero, who is completely sinister under the surface, and Vogel will play Deputy Zach Shelby, who the site describes as “a completely engaging, attractive, intelligent sociopath.”

They will be joining Freddie Highmore as a young Norman Bates and Vera Farmiga as his mother, Norma. The show will explore the relationship between mother and son, and how it transformed Norman into the twisted serial killer we see in Hitchcock’s classic movie.
