Good news for the movie industry: According to early estimates and Friday earnings, this Thanksgiving weekend is projected to be the best-ever for the box office. No doubt aided by the recent releases of highly-anticipated films like Breaking Dawn Pt. 2 and Skyfall, total earnings for the 5-day weekend are estimated to be about $287 million, up from 2009's record of $258.6 million.

Unsurprisingly, Breaking Dawn Pt. 2 is holding the top spot so far, with Skyfall at #2 and Lincoln at #3. Newcomer film Rise of the Guardians opened on Wednesday, and currently takes the fourth spot with $33.7 million earned so far. Life of Pi opened to the fifth spot with $30.7 million earned so far, and Red Dawn debuted to the seventh spot with $22 million earned.
