"Breaking Dawn Pt. 2" Has Already Earned $162.2 Million Worldwide

And that's only through Friday.

Looks like just as expected, the final installment of the Twilight franchise, Breaking Dawn Pt. 2, is poised to rule the box office this weekend. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film has already earned $162.2 million worldwide - and, as those numbers are just indicative of the film's earnings through Friday, we can be sure the total will rise quite a bit come Monday morning.

Still, even with earnings so high that make it the sixth-biggest opening day in history, it looks like Breaking Dawn Pt. 2 won't boast a bigger opening than last year's Breaking Dawn Pt. 1 or 2009's New Moon. Domestically, both films earned $71.6 million and $72.7 million respectively, so Breaking Dawn Pt. 2's domestic opening of $71.2 million yesterday falls just short of breaking those records.

Summit Entertainment, the film's studio, is predicting domestic earnings to fall somewhere in the $135 million range by the weekend's end.
