Oscar-Winning Screenwriter Michael Arndt to Pen Upcoming "Star Wars" Sequels

Specifically, the next three of them.

Looks like work on the upcoming new Star Wars films is well underway. According to Deadline, Oscar-winning Little Miss Sunshine scribe Michael Arndt has written the treatment for the next three films in the franchise, which was recently acquired by Disney along with the rights to George Lucas' production company, Lucasfilm. Though it's not confirmed that Arndt will be the one writing the script for the next three films, sources say he is in line to pen at least Episode VII, which is expected to be released in 2015.

In addition to Little Miss Sunshine, Arndt also wrote the scripts for Toy Story 3 and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, so that might give us all some hint as to what the next Star Wars film could be like. Katniss Everdeen, surrounded by talking children's toys, driving a broken down Volkswagon in space? Come on, we'd all watch that.
