"Pacific Rim" Viral Footage Shows Off A Giant Monster Attack (Video)

This is a summer blockbuster to actually get excited about.

If you like the idea of mountainous monsters battling against robots the size of skyscrapers then you should probably keep an eye on next summer’s Pacific Rim. Directed by Guillermo del Toro, this blockbuster is looking to bring the tradition of Japanese giant monster movies back to life in a big way. And now you can catch your first glimpse at a new viral video for the movie in the player above.

Courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter, this video shows choppy news footage of a giant monster ripping through San Francisco. Though we don’t get a clear image of the beast, there are a few pause-worthy moments where you might be able to make out parts of the monster. Either way, this is a rare summer movie that works off of an original concept that isn’t a sequel, prequel, or reboot. And that should be enough to get you interested.

Pacific Rim will be in theaters on July 12, 2013.
