A former model for The Price is Right who claims she was harassed and fired by producers after she got pregnant has won her lawsuit - and been awarded millions. TMZ is reporting that the model, Brandi Cochran, was awarded $775,000 in damages by the court before the jury heard her testimony, where she claimed that she was called names like "wide load" and was ultimately fired when she told the show she was pregnant.
After hearing Cochran's claims, the jury then slapped the show with punitive damages of $7,763,400 - which means Cochran is walking away with upwards of $8.5 million. 'Not bad' would be the understatement of the century.
Executive producer for The Price is Right, Mike Richards, released a statement on the show's blog after the court's decision, calling it "tough" for staff and producers of the series. Referencing one model, Gwen Osbourne, who went through two pregnancies while appearing on the show, he wrote, "if we don't like pregnant models, we sure have a funny way of showing it."
The show's production company, FremantleMedia, is reportedly seeking an appeal.
