When Insidious hit theaters nationwide in 2011, it brought originality and old school charm back to the horror genre. In fact, because of its miniscule budget and critical acclaim, it became the most profitable film of the year by bringing in over $97 million on a $1.5 million budget. Now it shouldn’t come as a shock that FilmDistrict has just announced that Insidious Chapter 2 will hit theaters on August 30, 2013, according to Coming Soon.

The movie will reunite Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne, Lin Shaye, and Ty Simpkins in their roles from the original. In a press release, Peter Schlessel, FilmDistrict’s CEO, said, “We are all very excited to see the next chapter of James and Leigh’s vision of the Further. It’s great to be in business again with Blumhouse, Alliance and Sony.”

We’ll have more information on the film as it becomes available.
