Not satisfied with milking the Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Marvel franchises into submission, Disney is now looking to further exploit the Tron series by hiring a new writer for a third installment, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The studio has locked up Jesse Wigutow (It Runs in the Family) to pen the script for the movie, which will again be helmed by Tron: Legacy director Joseph Kosinski.

Though Legacy was met with a middling reaction from critics, the movie did well enough at the worldwide box office that the House of Mouse is positive that it can turn this into a long-running property. It isn’t known if Wigutow will be working from David DiGilio’s previous Tron 3 script, or if this will be a brand-new story, but Kosinski has hinted in the past that this movie will be a direct continuation of Legacy. We’ll have more information as it becomes available.
