Gamers Call for Online Shooter Ceasefire to Honor Shooting Victims

Dec. 21 is the Online Shooter Ceasefire, when multiplayer games should go dark.

None

GamerFitNation CEO Antwand Pearman has issued a call to gamers everywhere to participate in a special day of online shooter ceasefire to honor the victims of last week's unbelievably tragic shooting in Newtown, Conn.

Here's some explanation from the movement's Facebook page:

We ask for Gamers to show their support for the families of those who lost there lives in the tragedy that took place in a Connecticut's Sandy Hook elementary school Friday, December 14, 2012.

As gamers, we tend to have a knee-jerk reaction any time games are mentioned in the same breath as a tragedy such as this one. But games aren't being blamed here; the first line of the movement's Facebook page reads "WE ARE NOT BLAMING VIDEO GAMES!"

What do you think? Is an online shooter ceasefire an appropriate way to honor the victims and show support to their families? Or should video games be left out of the discussion entirely?
