Looks like Oprah's OWN network is moving forward quickly with that recent multi-year development deal with Tyler Perry - according to Deadline, Perry is set to write, direct, and executive produce two shows for the network, a comedy and a drama, to air in mid-2013.
Both projects are pretty archetypically Perry: The comedy, Love Thy Neighbor, is set in a diner where "the menu serves up good food, great laughs, valuable life lessons, and a whole lot of love for its zany neighbors," while the drama, The Haves and the Have Nots, follows an upper class family, and the poverty-stricken family of their housekeeper. Both shows will the first scripted projects for OWN, which up until now has offered reality and talk shows. It will also be Tyler's first time creating a drama series, as his previous shows for TBS have all been sitcom comedies.
