Good news for True Blood creator Alan Ball's new series Banshee. Less than a month after its premiere, The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that its network Cinemax has opted to renew the show for a second season. This news comes after the series earned some fairly high ratings with its first episode alone - 483,000 viewers for its premiere, with another million tuning in for encore presentations. As Cinemax has long been trying to break out with their own scripted shows, its looking like Banshee may very well be their winner.

Starring Antony Starr, the series follows a ex-con who impersonates the sheriff in the small town of Banshee, PA in an effort to hide from some gangsters who are looking for him.
