Good news for Machete Kills: Despite a pesky lawsuit threatening to halt its release, it looks like Open Road has given the Danny Trejo-starring project a premiere date. According to Deadline, the film will officially hit theaters on September 13, 2013.

As previously reported, the film hit a speed bump last November when the production company that worked on 2010's Machete decided to cut ties with director Robert Rodriguez's production company, Quick Draw Productions, over a financial dispute. They're suing Quick Draw to prevent the sequel from being released, and are also seeking $2 million in damages. No word on exactly how the lawsuit is panning out, but it can likely be assumed by the fact that the film now has a release date that things aren't going well.

Machete Kills also stars Jessica Alba, Mel GibsonMichelle Rodriguez, Sofia Vergara, Amber Heard, Charlie Sheen, Lady Gaga, and Antonio Banderas.
