Girls may have just begun airing its second season, but that doesn't mean creator Lena Dunham isn't already thinking of the show's last moments. In an appearance on Alec Baldwin's podcast, Here's the Thing, the 26-year-old Golden Globe award-winning writer/star/director/producer explained that, though HBO has her on contract for six years, she's given some thought to how she wants to end the series because she doesn't want it outstaying its welcome.

"The ideal finale to the show would be a feeling like they don’t have to have kids, they don’t have to have husbands, but you look at them and you kind of go, 'They’re on their way; they’re more OK than they were when they started,'" Dunham explained, also referencing the formats of British television shows which are notorious for only including a few seasons and a handful of episodes. "Or they’re less OK, but we have an understanding of what kind of adult we think they’re gonna be."

Luckily, it looks like it's going to be a long time before that happens - Dunham added that season three will begin filming in March, news that Baldwin responded jokingly to with an excited "Great. I’ll be available," followed by a suggestion that he could portray Hannah's therapist on the show.

Dunham also shared her thoughts on Rihanna, explaining how she used to be a major fan of the singer. "I don’t want to ever throw stones from my glass house, but I follow her on Instagram and I just think about how many little girls beyond what I could even comprehend are obsessed with Rihanna," she said. "And then she gets back together with Chris Brown and posts a million pictures of them smoking marijuana together on a bed. And it cracks my heart in half in a way that makes me feel like I’m 95 years old."

Season two of Girls airs Sundays at 9 PM on HBO, and you can listen to Baldwin's full interview with Dunham here.
