New Writer Hired For "Pirates Of The Caribbean 5"

Still?

None

Disney has hired a writer to bring Pirates of the Caribbean 5 to the big screen. According to Variety, the House of Mouse has brought in Jeff Nathanson (Catch Me If You Can) to pen the script to this next installment in the franchise, which will also see Jerry Bruckheimer back as producer and Johnny Depp return as Captain Jack Sparrow.

Though Depp hasn’t officially signed on as of yet, it’s expected that he will as the actor has said he is open to a return as long as the material is good. And apparently, he thinks any script is good as long as a fat paycheck is stapled to it. No other recurring characters or a plot have been confirmed yet, but for a franchise that has grossed over $3.5 billion at the box office, you can expect the studio to do anything within its power to try and preserve this winning formula.

Should Disney continue pumping these movies out, or should the franchise be allowed to sail off into the sunset? Let us know what you think.
