Marijuana legalization may still be a concern in NYC, but low-level arrests for marijuana dropped by 22 percent in 2012. Unfortunately, stats from the Division of Criminal Justice Services showed that New Yorkers were arrested for marijuana possession more than any other crime last year.

Gothamist notes that it hasn't been a crime to have more than 25 grams of marijuana on your person since 1977, but if you're busted with it "out in the open," you'll probably get processed and charged with a misdemeanor. Low-level marijuana arrests have been on the incline in New York, most likely due to the stop-and-frisk program, and New York continues to have one of the highest rates for marijuana arrests in the country.
