NYC Reportedly Wants to Transform UWS Schools Into High Rises

The real estate boom continues.

That's P.S. 199, courtesy of Jen Chung (Gothamist).

New York City parents, prepare to flip out. P.S. 191 and 199 could be on the way out, and might be replaced by high rises. Last November, the Department of Education's Education Construction Fund placed an ad in Crain's New York for "prime development sites. "The problem is, P.S. 191, 199 and the School of Cooperative Technical Education already reside at 210 West 61st, 270 West 70th and 321 East 96th Streets.

Before your day is totally ruined, keep in mind that any respectable offer that the DOE receives will have to be reviewed by the  Uniform Land Use Review Process (ULURP), and that wouldn't take place until May or June.
