"Scary Movie 5" Bombed Last Weekend In the Box Office

Sorry, Lindsay Lohan.

None

Looks like Lindsay Lohan will have to rely on The Canyons to be her comeback vehicle, because the most recent film she had a part in just bombed badly. According to Deadline, Scary Movie 5 - which stars Ashley Tisdale, but features a cameo from Lohan alongside Charlie Sheen - only managed to pull in $15.1 million last weekend for the second spot in the box office, a dismal number considering it was the film's opening weekend.

Futhermore, reviews were even worse: Currently, the film holds a five percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, backed by quotes like "A film composed almost entirely of jokes that were much funnier when you read them on Twitter years ago," from Entertainment Weekly and "It's supposed to be funny, but you'd have an easier time reading a zombie's pulse than you would finding a single good laugh," from the Toronto Star. Yikes.

Overall, it was a rather slow weekend for the box office, but one film did manage to do well despite that: The Jackie Robinson biopic, 42, ended up pulling in $27.3 million to take the top spot, a stunning performance for a baseball film.

The Croods, which was released four weeks ago, took the number three spot with $13.2 million earned, and G.I. Joe: Retaliation nabbed the number four spot with $10.8 million earned. Rounding off the top five was Evil Dead, which took in $9.5 million.
