Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim is coming. The giant robot vs giant monster homage to Japanese kaiju (think Godzilla) films of the past is poised to be a beast of a summer release.
A NeoGAF poster has uncovered these images from the Australian Classification Review Board from an apparent Pacific Rim tie-in title. WEE and UFC video game developer Yuke and mobile game developer Jump Games will developing the fighter for release on multiple platforms. We don't know if we're more excited about fighting giant monsters in the Pacific Ocean or the fact that GLaDOS from the Portal series may still make a cameo in the film.
Of course, we are understandably wary of an officially licenced video game tie-in. But, we love giant robots and that is overriding our natural inclination to turn our noses up at what we hope isn't a hasty cash grab. Take a look at the images and let us know what you think.
