Sam Mendes In Talks to Direct Another Bond Film

It's a miracle!

None

It was a sad day when Sam Mendes officially announced he was done directing 007 films because his next projects, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and King Lear, needed his "complete focus." Feelings of depression, abandonment, fear, and uncertainty were abound; Skyfall was the best Bond movie in years! It has a 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes! Who else would be able to follow that up but Mendes himself?

There, there - no use is getting all worked up again, because now it looks like Mendes might be back in the running for director of the next Bond film after all. According to Deadline, Mendes has been in meetings with Sony Pictures and MGM about signing back on to the franchise. Apparently, producers really wanted him to return - with good reason, Skyfall earned $1.1 billion worldwide - so they're agreeing to wait for him to complete his commitments to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and King Lear.

Production, if Mendes does officially sign on, will start early next year.
