Windows 8.1 and the Return of the Start Button

Microsoft making moves.

The Start Button is back with Microsoft's new update to Windows 8, and there are a few minor fixes to accompany it. With Windows 8.1, the Start Button will return to the lower-left hand corner of the screen—it won't always be visible, but it'll just be a click away. Along with integrating Bing into more of its features and more comprehensive SkyDrive support, with 8.1, you can finally change the background of your Start screen, and turn your lock-screen into a slideshow. Yes, they're little changes, but if you've been dying to put a picture of your favorite kicks up on your device, now you can.

Windows 8.1 will be available as a free update later in 2013. For those of you awaiting the day those Windows tiles go away, don't hold your breath.
