For some reason, Bill Maher has taken it upon himself to defend disgraced celebrity chef Paula Deen. He discussed the swift cancellation of her Food Network show on Real Time With Bill Maher after the public found out she routinely uses the "n" word and planned a slave plantation-themed wedding.

"This may have been a shakedown," he said. "People may have been trying to shake her down, that happens all the time, so I'm not sure what the original charge is. But she did admit to using the n-word, so the Food Network cut her off..."

"If you're 66 years old, and you were raised in Georgia, and you were a child before the civil rights movement, do you get a bit of a pass?" he said. We're gonna go ahead and say no, and Maher and his panel agreed. However, Maher went on to lament the fact that the Food Network pulled the plug on her super-popular cooking show.

"It's just a word, it's a wrong word, she's wrong to use it. But do we always have to make people go away?" he asked. Something tells us the queen of butter and oil won't be thrown out on the street, so forgive us for not being sympathetic that the Food Network pulled the plug. She can go back to her deep-fried palace and never return for all we care.
