Gears of War creator, Cliff Bleszinski, says current triple-A and used game models can't co-exist.

Cliff Bleszinski says that public reaction to the differences in Sony and Microsoft's policies regarding used games are premature, arguing that Sony is playing a public relations game. Sony announced that it will have no restrictions on user sharing its disc-based games for PlayStation 4 while Microsoft dropped hints about its Xbox One digital sharing with limitations on how many shares an owner has but yet to be fully explain the details of its policy.

"I bet Sony has some similar stuff up their sleeves, they're just playing on the Internet outrage for free PR," he tweeted. "You're all being played!" Bleszkinski goes on to explain "You cannot have game and marketing budgets this high while also having used and rental games existing...The numbers do not work people."

Given the high graphical quality of games and high budgets be returned $4 sales at Gamestop a year after release keep the industry moving forward? Or are much-loved used games the Achilles heel of "Blockbuster" game development.

We'll have to see just how Microsoft's sharing works in practice before before we can judge it's limitations but Bleszinski argues that it's a case of manufactures outrage by gamers.
