Saints Row 4 has been denied a rating by the Australian Classification Board under its Guidelines for the Classification of Computer Games.
Acting director Donald McDonald made the announcement today, making it the first computer game in the country to be refused classification.
After reviewing the request in May the board concluded that the title "includes interactive, visual depictions of implied sexual violence which are not justified by context." Use of "illicit or proscribed drug use" as incentives in the game which is prohibited by the boards guidelines.
Austrialia's recently added R18+ classification came into effect this past January. It came into effect following legislation passed by the Federal and State governments and said that games denied classification previously could resubmit to the Board.
Saints Row 4 is set to drop in August in North America for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC and despite the excessive misogyny and pervasive phallic imagery, we've come to know and love, about the series we'll have to see what all the fuss is about.
