HP Says They're Getting Ready to Launch Their Own Smartphone

...after their last try didn't go so well.

None

Hewlett-Packard is looking to make a comeback to the smartphone world, after they were literally knocked out of the market with their last phone, the Palm Pre, back in 2011.

When Yam Su Yin, HP’s senior director for consumer PCs and media tablets in Asia, was asked whether HP had a smartphone in its plans, Yam said: "The answer is 'yes', but I cannot give a timetable. It would be silly if we say no. HP has to be in the game... Being late you have to create a different set of proposition[s]. There are still things that can be done. It's not late. When HP has a smartphone, it will give a differentiated experience."

Combine Yam's statement with HP CEO Meg Whitman's comments last year that the company would have to take advantage of that market, it seems like an HP smartphone isn't that far off. Outside of design, one of the remaining questions is: will it run Windows, Android or Blackberry? If their latest all-in-one desktop is any indication, let's hope Android is at least an option.
