The official trailer for Paul Schrader and Bret Easton Ellis' The Canyons wasn't terrible, but apparently all it needed to really be great was a new Kanye West song. In honor of the film's release in theaters and on iTunes today, IFC has released a version of the trailer remixed by West himself, in collaboration with his multimedia company DONDA.
Amongst the changes made: West completely recut the trailer with Nate Brown, then contributed a completely new song for the soundtrack alongside frequent collaborator Noah Goldstein. The result is a clip that captures the essense of what the Lindsay Lohan-starring The Canyons wanted to be: A deeply haunting film with a calm, gradual build-up to complete, beautiful chaos.
As Pitchfork points out, it's likely West came to work on this remix because of his friendship with Ellis—recently, Ellis assisted in the creation of an American Psycho-inspired promo clip for West's newest album Yeezus, which starred Scott Disick as Patrick Bateman, and Jonathan Cheban as Paul Allen.
You can check out the clip above.
