Nintendo has released a handful of new screens from the Wii U’s upcoming Wind Waker HD redux, and they feel a little bit different. When Wind Waker HD was first announced last year, fans pointed out that the game’s new look seemed to have less cartoon aesthetic than straight up bloom-lighting, a technique that gives textures and models a soft appearance with rounded shadows, more akin to a Pixar character than traditional animation.
While the change in the new screens – if indeed there is one – is subtle, Link appears to look less like a vinyl model and more like his old Gamecube-cartoony self. Is less bloom a good thing? Check the link below and decide for yourself.
