While most video games tend to portray an threat of terrorism as only being dealt with by the end of an assault rifle, Papers Please takes a much more mundane approach: border patrol.
And it’s exactly this premise that makes the game sound so interesting (not to mention timely): as a border patrol guard for a war-torn (fictitious) country in Eastern Europe, you have to choose who can enter your country based solely on an individual’s documentation and your economically unstable government’s own outdated forms of criminal detection.
