Nintendo’s upcoming Wind Waker HD redux for the Wii Uis getting a harder difficulty mode available from the start, according to news coming out of Gamescom. In addition to playing the game on normal difficulty – pretty much the same as playing the original GameCube classic – players will have the option to select a new “Hero” mode where you won’t find any recovery hearts hiding in shrubbery.
Hero Mode’s enemies also hit twice as hard, so you’ll have to play with a little less gutless frenzy (a little) and a little more strategy (and probable defense). So not quite Dark Souls, maybe, but hopefully something with a little more oomph for fans that feel Nintendo games have a rep for being too easy – even at their most difficult points.
Sounds like a good move to me. Wind Waker HD hits Wii U digitally and, surprisingly, as a boxed release in October.

Trying to get that "Dark Souls" crowd, Nintendo?
