2K and Firaxis Games have announced an expansion to XCOM: Enemy Unknown to be released on November 12. Enemy Within will be available on PC and Mac for $30, while Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions, called the "Commander Edition" will put gamers out $40 but will include a copy of Enemy Unknown and extra solider content packs.

The game will take place within the same world of Enemy Unknown but will contain many new extras. New soldiers, aliens, research upgrades, gene mods and mechs with grenade launcher and flame throwers and hopefully a sweet melee attack to rain down some hate on those Muton bastards.

This popular upgrade has been announced just a day after prequel The Bureau: XCOM Declassified, is it too much to hope for a story tie-in, the timing would seem to suggest something of the sort.
