You probably knew Chris Brown could dance. But did you know he could ball? Oh yes indeed.

Brown has been keeping himself pretty busy lately. His upcoming movie, Battle of the Year, promises to be one of the most electrifying films of the fall. In it, Brown plays one of a group of elite dancers recruited to compete in the titular contest, in the hopes of bringing its winning trophy back to America—where it began, and where it belongs. The film also stars Josh Holloway (Lost), Josh Peck (The Wackness) and Laz Alonso (Fast & Furious). Not only is it based on a true story (and the hailed 2009 documentary, Planet B-Boy), but it's also in 3-D, ensuring that all of Brown's breakin' and b-boyin' will be right up in your grill.

But Brown has been keeping himself busy with an even more noble pursuit: working with the non-profit organization The Drew League, which is dedicated to helping young men and women of South Central Los Angeles learn life lessons through basketball. Founded by Alvin Willis in 1973 at the Charles Drew Junior High School on the corner of Compton and Firestone, the league initially had six teams. Now, forty years later, the league boasts 28 “invitation-only” teams to battle it out on the hardwood floor of the Charles Drew Junior High School. The league earned the reputation of being one of Southern California’s toughest competitions, and has attracted streetball legends, college athletes, and even NBA stars. Notable names who have partaken in the Drew League include: Kobe Bryant, James Harden, John Wall, Paul Pierce, Kevin Durant, and LeBron James. And now, add to that list one more: Chris Brown.

It's great to see an artist like Brown pushing his versatility like this. And you know what? The guy's got some skills on the court! He's also got skills when it comes to breaking it down, b-boy style, which we're bound to see in full effect when Battle of the Year hits theaters on September 20th.
