Fresh off of destroying the White House in a rather boring fashion, it looks like the future of Roland Emmerich, disaster-movie extraordinare (or hack, depending on who you ask), is aliens, aliens, and more aliens. In addiiton to his plans for an Independence Day 2, which Will Smith may or may not be a part of, Emmerich offered an equally wishy-washy and vague designs for revisiting Stargate, (which he also wrote, with frequent collaborator Dean Devlin, and directed). Or rebooting. Or maybe he isn't sure yet.

Speaking with Digital Spy, he said: "We went to MGM, who has the rights, and proposed to them to do a sequel, but as a reboot... and reboot it as a movie and then do three parts. Pretty soon we'll have to look for a writer and start." Whatever that means. Maybe returning to old crowd pleasers like Independence Day and Stargate is just what Emmerich needs to get his groove back. Either way, with ID2 tentatively slated for 2015-16, don't expect the Stargate re-sequelogy any time soon.
