This is weird and potentially great all at the same time: According to Indiewire, there is a female-led version of The Expendables in the works that would be titled The ExpendaBelles (GET IT? Yeah.) and, possibly, star Meryl Streep, Cameron Diaz, and Milla Jovovich in the lead roles.

You had me at Meryl Streep.

Apparently, Deadline uncovered some Bulgarian press reports which state that Expendables producer Avi Lerner said that Streep, Diaz, and Jovovich are in "negotiations" for the film. It even has a screenplay in development already: Karen McCullah and Kirsten Smith of Legally Blonde are said to be writing the script. No word on the plot, but as long as we get to see three badass ladies kick ass, there's not much that can go wrong.

As Indiewire points out, this project is far from a sure thing—there's no director attached yet—but it seems that progress is definitely being made. Stay tuned on this one, everybody.
