Change is hard, but sometimes when it comes to video games it’s for the best. Successful game developers are faced with quite a challenge: How do you follow up a true classic with something fresh while not betraying what was great about the original?

To us it’s all about transformation. Sure, it’s nice when things stay the same. It’s easier for developers; there are plenty of sequels released every year that are practically identical to their predecessors. But our favorite follow-ups take what was good about the original games and transform them into something new.

With added features, improved graphics, better stories, and new mechanics, the games with “2” in their names can be even better than their predecessors. These ten sequels prove it.
