"The Mindy Project" Has Been Put on Hiatus for Two Months

Don't worry, it's coming back. The same, though, can't be said for Dads.

The good news: It seems that Fox has finally come to their senses when it comes to their unfunny, slightly racist series, Dads. Apparently, Fox plans to officially put the series on hiatus after it airs its midseason finale on February 4th, and, though they haven't outright said that the show is canceled, they haven't scheduled a return date for it—which pretty much means the show is going to be canceled. Now, for the bad news: You won't be able to celebrate by watching new episodes of The Mindy Project, because Fox is putting that on hiatus too.

According to Deadline, the network has pulled off a major scheduling shuffle in an effort to combat falling ratings for shows like Glee and Mindy. So, what Mindy's hiatus mean? Unlike Dads, The Mindy Project is definitely not canceled—but it won't be around for a while. After it airs its midseason finale on January 28th, the show will be put on the backburner until April, during which time the new comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine will take over its 9:30 PM Tuesday timeslot. This will give Fox the ability to move Glee from Thursday nights back to Tuesday nights beginning in February, and the time to premiere a new legal dramedy called Rake on Thursdays. Not everything is changing, though: At the very least, New Girl will stay in its Tuesday 9 PM timeslot.

Though The Mindy Project is coming back, this news is still pretty sad. What will we all do without our weekly dose of Mindy Lahiri wisdom? We're not ready to find out.

How can anyone put this on hiatus?
