China Bans "Battlefield 4" Over National Security

Chinese officials are accusing EA of "cultural invasion".

China has banned all things Battlefield 4 within its borders, calling the game a threat to national security issues and accusing EA as promoting a type of "cultural invasion" due to the game's fictitious narrative depicting a military-ready China allying with Russia following a coup by a Chinese general.

Following a report from PCgames.com.cn last week, China's Ministry of Culture put out a ban on all Battlefield 4-related content, imagery, related articles or content specific for the game. Although Battlefield's Chinese romaji "ZhanDi4" has already been banned on Chinese filesharing servers, it is still being illegally downloaded under its English name. 

The censorship follows opinions printed in the state-run newspaper China Military said the game "smears China's image," making this new measure by the Ministry of Culture that much more interesting, if not unexpected. Read the full story via the link below.
