If you were looking forward to seeing the new Doctor, Peter Capaldi, don the same amount of bowties as the previous Doctor Matt Smith did when he occupied the role, sorry to say: That is definitely not going to happen. With a new Doctor comes whole new look, and, judging by this new promo image that BBC just released for the upcoming season of Doctor Who, that new look is radically different compared to before.

Doctor Who costume designer Howard Burden explained the change: "He’s woven the future from the cloth of the past. Simple, stark, and back to basics. No frills, no scarf no messing, just 100 per cent Rebel Time Lord." The look is slightly more subdued than Smith's, who commonly wore a bowtie when he was the Doctor—and it's definitely more subdued than the tenth doctor David Tennant's look, which consisted of a lot of tweed. In fact, it's slightly reminiscent of the ninth doctor's look, when Christopher Eccleston occupied the role for a short time in 2005—but, Capaldi's Doctor has Doc Martens.

You can check out the full image above. Capaldi will begin his first full season as the Doctor on BBC sometime this Fall.
