We wouldn’t wish this email bug on our worst enemy. David S. Peck received some 10,000 unsolicited emails in one day after a weird Gmail glitch autocompleted his Hotmail account into the address field in thousands of ‘Compose’ boxes. When users accessed Gmail via search, Peck’s primary address was already filled in, prompting the deluge of unwanted mail.

“I’ve been getting thousands of no-subject, blank emails. 500 of them come every hour, I can’t stop them,” he told TechCrunch.

“They’re coming so fast, I want to stop them. I deleted everything last night and woke up this morning and had 1,900 new emails. Only two of them were emails I cared about,” he says.

Google acknowledged the mishap, saying that “due to a technical glitch, some email addresses on public webpages appeared too prominently in search results. We’ve fixed the issue and are sorry for any inconvenience caused." Yikes. Poor guy
