Bad news for those of you looking forward to seeing Sarah Silverman and Topher Grace headline an HBO comedy: According to Deadline, HBO has decided not to go forward with their pilot, People in New Jersey. It's not clear what exactly the reasoning was.
The comedy, which was directed by Bridesmaids director Paul Feig, executive produced by Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels, and also starred Patti LuPone, was set to be a "hilarious, poignant look at life today" through the eyes of an adult brother and sister (Silverman and Grace). LuPone was set to be their mother, who was described as "lost since the death of her husband."
In addition to announcing that they would not be moving forward with People of New Jersey, HBO also announced that they would be redeveloping a pilot from Late Night With Jimmy Fallon writers Diallo Riddle and Bashir Salahuddin that follows "two 30-year old-reporters, as they try to make it big in the burgeoning black mecca of contemporary Atlanta"—so at least there's that?
