Big news regarding Edgar Wright's highly anticipated Ant-Man adaptation: In a press release today, Marvel announced that Michael Douglas will be taking on the role of scientist Hank Pym in the film, and confirmed that Paul Rudd will be portraying the character of Scott Lang.

"With Hank Pym's rich history in the Marvel Universe, we knew we needed an actor capable of bringing the weight and stature to the role that the character deserves," Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said in a statement. "We felt incredibly relieved when Michael Douglas agreed to step into the part with the charm and fortitude he brings to every character he inhabits, and couldn't be more excited to see what he will do to bring Hank Pym to life."

This may come as a surprise to some people, as Rudd was originally confirmed to star as Ant-Man at the end of last month—it was assumed that the Ant-Man he would be portraying would be the most well known character, Hank Pym. However, it looks like instead he will be portraying Scott Lang, the other man who took on the role of Ant-Man in the Marvel universe. So, the film will feature both characters.

Ant-Man will hit theaters on July 31, 2015.
