SoundCloud apparently isn't satisfied with just being home to a tiny corner of indie Internet. The online streaming platform and community has its sights set on becoming a major industry player, according to new results.

Following a recent round of funding that landed it an additional $60 million, the startup is reportedly hoping to make deals with the music industry that would allow it to provide licensed content and finally live up to the 'YouTube of music' title that is so frequently tossed around.

Now, SoundCloud actively removes copyrighted content from the site, but an agreement with major labels and publishers could change all of that. It would also open up the platform for more varied revenue opportunities, especially as more and more startups are vying for a piece of the growing, if not quite yet lucrative, streaming market.
