Last week we reported on the very unlikely rumor that Denzel Washington is being eyed by Warner Bros. to play the role of John Stewart, a.k.a. the Green Lantern, for the studio’s still-untitled Batman/Superman movie. Apparently Washington isn’t the only high-profile actor that the studio is looking at currently. Peter Georgiou, the owner of the website ThinkMcFlyThink, has tweeted that he has heard that the studio is also looking at Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson for the role:

Rumor: I didn't hear this directly, but it's floating around behind the scenes in the industry: @TheRock is up for Jon Stewart. Shrugs.

Obviously this is just a rumor at this point, but it does fit in with the studio’s plans. Johnson is one of the most bankable stars in Hollywood at the moment and he is due to appear in a big-time comic book movie. Plus, Johnson is half African American, which is important because the John Stewart Green Lantern was one of the first mainstream black superheroes at DC.

This rumor also coincides with a cryptic tweet that Johnson sent out earlier this week regarding a meeting with Warner Bros. about a DC Comics movie:

We just had a big meeting w/ Warner Bros CEO re: @DCComics 2014 we will partner up and create the cool bad assery. #RockTalk @ActionTilson

If this is true, it will be interesting to see if Johnson is being looked at to still be part of Batman/Superman or perhaps a continuation of the Green Lantern series, which originally bombed with Ryan Reynolds as the lead in 2011.
