Though Bitcoin had a surge in popularity in recent months, the government hasn't been very keen about the cryptocurrency. Now, it seems, either is Apple.
The company removed Blockchain, the last remaining Bitcoin wallet on the App Store, yesterday. Blockchain gained more than 120,000 users since it was introduced in April 2012, and now joins BitPak and Coinbase as another casualty in the Bitcoin crackdown. Bitcoin users can still use ZeroBlock, a non-wallet Bitcoin value tracker, which is still available in the App Store.
“I think that Apple is positioning itself to take on mobile payments in a way they haven’t described to the public and they’re being anti-competitive," Blockchain developer Nicolas Cary told Wired.
Android users can still download the app, which is available in the Google Play Store.
